Jodie's first automobile

"As soon as Jodie turned sixteen and was old enough to drive, Mom bought her a black 1978 Volkswagen convertible with an all-black interior and top. It was the greatest present she had ever gotten. Jodie has never been a material girl; great wealth, which she started to accumulate at a very early age, didn't excite her or change her lifestyle. The Volkswagen was the exception"
[Buddy Foster]

Details:     Jodie Foster's 1979 Volkswagen Bug convertible in mint condition. This car was made the last year these models were produced in Germany. Driven by Ms. Foster in her early 20's the car has been carefully garaged and maintained since its active use. The car has its original engine and the odometer reads just under 50,000 miles. Ms Foster has signed the glove compartment as well as a recent photograph of herself with the car which still bears its Yale license-plate frames.

"My time off is regeneration time, and I'm entirely selfish," Foster says. "Somebody calls and says come out and have lunch, and I say no, because between 12:30 and 2:30, I eat in my car. That's my thing- I EAT IN MY CAR." Jodie's Set offscreen is something she describes as a reverse fantasy. She doesn't like to think she's rich or different. She drove the same beat-up Volkswagen for years, rented a so-so apartment, though she bought her mother a lovely home.

Jodie Foster's Beetle convertible is probably from one of todays most sought-after Beetle special editions named "Epilog" or "Triple Black". One car supplied per dealer.
